If your an FPV pilot on 72mhz then this is the receiver you want to pick up. Funny how when you start flying FPV old school is now the new school. Love these and use them in most of my planes.

Range is easy over a mile with this bad boy and unless you just only do long range this is the perfect step to take when getting into fpv. You get great range and reliability. Works great and at a low cost you can throw it in all your planes and even crash and destroy one and not have to much wrapped up into it. Have you tried this RX in a quad? I had been using one in my planes/helicopters for quite some time before I went to 2.4ghz. When I did, I transplanted the RP8D1 into my FPV quad, and attempted some 'long range'. The quad made it about 70 yards before total signal loss and crash.

The rx had worked great on my planes, for as far as I could see (I wasn't into FPV at the time). After doing some research, I had seen other reports of people having trouble with 72mhz on multirotors. Since there is no way to route the antenna far away from the motors like on an airplane, the noise from the motors just overwhelms the signal and range is reduced. I'm wondering. Was my experience unique, or is 72mhz on a multi a really terrible idea? I'm planning on buying two of these receivers to go with my two 72MHz transmitters, but I have a question about these receivers. In the specifications it says that it modulates on FM/PPM. Does that mean that it only receives on FM and or PPM frequencies or can it receive on AM frequencies as well?

Both of my transmitters are Futaba 72MHz AM Transmitters and both of them are about 18 years old and still work great. I would just like to know if these will work with my transmitter or not before buying them. As of right now they are on back order. Arctic Monkeys Discography Torrent Kickass.
