I've been researching this Plug-Ins thing. Because, I too have spent more money they I should have on a player, and can't afford the plug-ins, and half my stuff has ac3 audio. But, I found some sort of code to decrypt AOS files here: In some Archos site I remember that they say if the Plug-In does not install you can rename the AAS file to AOS file and it should still update, so therefore it's safe to assume AAS and AOS are pretty much the same.

And that decrypting tool might unlock the a504.aas file for us to take a look at how it works? Someone who is better at computer stuff then me, can take a look, and maybe decrypt that Plug-In, and let us know how it works? If this works.
